LAROQUE - GETTING THERE

GETTING THERE

By Road

The Autoroute de Sud is 10 km away which gives easy access to all major cities in France.

  1. Exit the AUTO-ROUTE de SUD at Le Boulou about 20km South of Perpignan.
  2. Follow the highway East towards Argeles sur-Mer.
  3. Turn-off the highway at sign posted Laroque des Alberes (approx 10mins).
  4. D618
  5. Follow the signs, through a roundabout (past a hypermarket) until you reach a T-junction (about 3km).
  6. Laroque
  7. Turn right at a "yellow junction" into a small avenue. (NB The road rules have changed recently – in villages you need to give way to the right). Follow this avenue round to the right into the "new" village centre where there are small shops. On your right a chemist and the post office, on your left a news agent. Just past the news agents is the Town Hall (Mairie). Just past the green is the Café des Artistes which is separated from the restaurant Les Palmiers) by the road up to the house. Tuirn left into this road.
  8. The House
  9. The house is 3 minutes walk, towards the (sign-posted) 13th Century Church. Our house is very close to the church in the Rue d'Eglise (church) no's 11 to 13.

By Air

There is an airport at Perpignan. Ryanair has very reasonable fares for flights from London's Stansted Airport which can be booked on the internet.

  1. Exit Perpignan air-port directly onto the Autoroute de Sud, heading South towards Barcelona and Girona.
  2. Then follow above instructions.

By Train

  1. The nearest station is Perpignan, which has direct services from Paris.
  2. A taxi to the house (approximately 25km) is about '30 quid' ($AU50).
  3. There are two services/day (one is a sleeper) direct from Paris to Argeles, which is 10 minutes by taxi from the house.

By Foot

Laroque is 2 hours walk from the GR10, which is the popular long distance footpath through the Pyrenees from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean coast at Banyuls-sur Mer. The foot-path from the GR10 continues past our front door!
